US Savings Bonds

Series EE US Savings Bonds pay interest based on current market rates for up to 30 years for Series EE Bonds purchased May 1997 through April 30, 2005.

The current market rate is fixed at 3.50% through October 2005.

Series EE US Savings Bonds issued on and after May 1, 2005, will earn fixed rates of interest. The interest rate on Series EE Bonds will be adjusted every May 1 and November 1.

US Savings Bonds must be held a minimum of one year, and there is a three-month interest penalty applied to US Savings Bonds held less than five years from issue date.
