Lost Savings Bonds
Lost savings bonds are common so if you
lose your savings bonds, do not panic. It is easy to
replace lost savings bonds if you have all the information. If
you happen to lose your US savings bonds or if the bonds are
stolen, you will not lose your money. You can fill out a form
and send in to the Treasury Department and your lost savings
bonds will be replaced and reissued.
What form do I need to claim the lost
savings bonds?
You will need to fill out the Form PD
F 1048 called Claim for Lost, Stolen or Destroyed United
States Savings Bonds.

How to replace lost savings bonds?
If you lost your savings bonds, you can fill
out the form PD F 1048 shown above and send it to the following
address. You can replace the lost savings bonds even if you do
not know the serials numbers of the savings bonds and do not
remember much information about it. The Treasury Department has
a record of all US savings bonds that can be searched whenever
you fill out the form above and sent to them.

savings bonds?
You must send the application for the
replacement of lost savings bonds as well as any other
additional information to the Department of Treasury, Bureau of
the Public Debt using the address below.
